Editorial #8 - The Pacific Theater Opens! Summer 1942

Fellow citizens, The United States have begun sending naval ships by the hundreds into the Pacific realm.  After MacArthur lost 65,000 of his men to the Bataan Death Marches (pictured below), he vowed to return.  However, the Japanese now inhabit countless islands throughout Oceania.  Last we had checked, Oceania is comprised of roughly 25,000 islands between the U.S. and the Empire of Japan.  What's America's response to this?  "ISLAND HOPPING".  Yes, quite a silly term for something meant to re-take the entire Pacific Ocean.  MacArthur believes it will work, as does FDR.  I am more skeptical though.  Do we not remember the cultural code the Japanese live by in combat?  The divine wind [Kamikaze] that they believe protects them?  I am not so sure this will work.  "Island Hopping" is going to be far from a walk in the park.  The American boys will be hitting hard in the Pacific at any moment.
