Editorial #12 - STALEMATE?! - Battle of the Bulge

Dear Readers,

We have spent many months being enthusiastic about the rapid advance of the Allies both in the Pacific and in the Atlantic.  However, today is a day of death, treachery, and of little progress.  It seems that the American Army is finding tremendous difficulty.

The Battle of the Bulge - Bastogne, Belgium
The American 101st Airborne Division is meeting stiff German resistance in the frozen forests of Bastogne.  The German line threatens to consume them every day.  The Americans hide frostbitten in their foxholes waiting for deadly artillery strikes.  Some say they won’t last the winter.  Casualties are high and the fog refuses to lift in the frozen Ardennes forest.  German soldiers creep within inches of their foxholes at any moment.  It is a terrifying time for the souls of these soldiers to live through.
