I discussed military strategy and bloodshed before I could eat solid foods, so it's quite easy for me to see the writing on the wall. Hitler is looking for a war. Have no illusions about that. He has the ability to re-carve the map like a butcher in a pastry shop. He'll soon wipe away the worthless work of the League of Nations like pig vomit. These are terrifying times indeed!
So, if he's looking for a war, our job as a League of Nations is to prevent bloodshed. We're trying to stop the bleeding - not create more by rushing into another great war.
The Daily Mirror's editor is purely idiotic and he needs some Windex to clarify his view. Hitler is a force to be reckoned with. However, now is not the time for rash action. We need to seek negotiations and moderate with Germany to find the middle ground. The Daily Mirror also does not see the value in some compromise. People can call it "appeasement" if they like, but we're trying to preserve peace with minimal damage.
As a veteran of The Great War, I am well aware of German power and the horrors of war. Watching boys no older than 18 die in the mud is not glorious. May we never send our sons to another war!
